The Single Screw Plug Insertion Battery Finishing Machine has been designed for a finishing line following the battery container formation. The batteries filled with sulphuric acid are sealed simultaneously by means of single plugs with an electronic servo motor. Plugs will be screwed in with torque control and finally checked if plugs missing in a separate plug height control test station, before approaching the washing machine.

It is designed for a finishing line after battery container formation and seals batteries filled with sulphuric acid with single plugs. A separate plug height control station then checks every plug before the batteries go on to the washing machine.
The plugs are stored in a funnel, which releases a set quantity into a vibration sorter that brings them into the correct position. Screw-type plugs are screwed in by a servo-driven screwdriver with adjustable torque, and push-type plugs are pushed in by a pneumatic cylinder or a linear servomotor.
The plug height control unit checks each screwed plug with a tolerance of ±0.1 mm. It detects missing plugs as well as plugs that sit too high or too low. Failed batteries are rejected onto a table that holds up to 3 batteries, so production can continue.
It handles automotive car and truck batteries from 20 to 70 kg at up to 7 batteries per minute, depending on battery size. Different plug types can be handled, and change-over times are short.
